Prayers for MH370 - KL Gallery #4

At the entrance of Sunway Pyramid lies this place to write and hang prayers for crew, passengers and family associated with the tragic disappearance of flight MH370 which was bound for Beijing from Kuala Lumpur, but never arrived.

Sometimes prayers go unanswered, but never unheard.

KL Cityscape - KL Gallery #2

The KL Cityscape as viewed and photographed from our room at Vistana Hotel KL. Menara KL stands tallest in the sky. Pleasantly surprised with the quality of the picture, therefore kudos to the window cleaners of Vistana KL, making my job as a photographer a little easier!

Life Never Stops - KL Gallery #1

In the shadow of a new development, the Petronas Twin Towers remain the focal point of KL and serve to inspire further construction. As the banner below the monorail track says, "Life Never Stops."

The Everly Hotel, Putrajaya, Malaysia

The Everly Hotel sits in Putrajaya, the government capital of Malaysia. Our purpose was for a brief family get-together and we stayed for one night. We wanted to stay somewhere other than KL. (One of the reasons I justified to myself was that it would give me something else new to blog about!) Putrajaya is 30-40 minutes drive away and presents something different. And we were pleased with our choice!

The Everly Hotel is one of those hotels that have a modern look, clean and tidy public areas and comfortable rooms, for a very reasonable price that won't hurt your wallet.

We had buffet dinner here in the hotel restaurant, which cost RM30/person. And though the food selection was rather small, it did taste good and we enjoyed a good meal.

Beach near Kuantan Port

As we travel weekly to Kuantan Port for work, we decided to stop off at a little beach right by the side of the road near Kuantan Port.

This is most definitely NOT on the list of tourist attractions for Kuantan. It's quite an 'off the beaten track' area which only those who live here can really know.

Anyway, Kuantan Port is an industrial area with many heavy and dirty lorries passing through these roads every minute of the day. I remarked to my wife on our first voyage out here that we must be getting close to Kuantan Port as everywhere is brown! The roads, traffic lights, signs, trees and shops are smothered in brown dirt. Like this:

Dirt covers everything just a few hundred yards from Kuantan Port

And this little beach has paid the price of being so close to this industrial area too.

On the flipside, it's great for photography!

Remnants of a broken tree

The polluted trees make such lovely lines for photography

This entirely uprooted tree provides many angles

There were a couple of stray dogs wandering around the roadside, and some monkeys walking around, but luckily they didn't bother us!

Your Place Restaurant, Kuantan

We came across Your Place restaurant while following directions to a friend's house. Your Place was used as a landmark close by their house. It is located just off Jalan Air Putih by taking a left turn after SMK Air Putih (coming from Star City).

Address: No. 998,
Lorong Galing 86,
Jalan Galing,
Pahang 25300 Kuantan
Tel: 09-566 1842

From initial inspection it appears to be no more than an average corner-lot house, and so my expectations were adjusted to 'low.'

But those perceptions were short-lived as we approached the restaurant and got comfortable inside.

Your Place has inside and outside seating; we opted to go in. We were pleasantly surprised to see a neat and tidy room with tables and chairs set nicely, along with simple decoration and friendly staff. A line of sofas with big red, comfortable cushions run along the side wall, so of course, our children were attracted to that area.

Our girls kept themselves busy while waiting for our food. Along with playing on the sofas, they also brought their colouring books to pass some time.

First to arrive was my hot chocolate, and it was great - thick froth and very chocolatey.

Fried noodles

Lemon Chicken Rice

Potato wedges

The food was very tasty, well cooked and prepared and presented nicely too. The waiters provided good service to cater to our needs. We have since returned on a couple more occasions.

A-Z April Blog Challenge

I've decided to give this blog a rest from the A-Z April blog challenge this year as I have a lot to catch up on from my recent travels and activities with my parents.

However, I have included 2 of my other blogs in this challenge and I invite you to go and check them out throughout this month.

First up is my A-Z of hotels which can be found at Xenodocheionology. I'm quietly excited about this one as I think it will make a very nice booklet/e-booklet once it is all completed through A - Z.

Secondly, you may visit our English business blog where I'm introducing rarely-used English words accommodated in a sentence. Click English Vocabulary to learn some new words.

Have a happy April everyone!
